Life Writing Course at Arvon Lumb Bank

How do you tell the story of your life? Embark on a journey through technique, research, time, place and structure and lift your memoir to the next level. Dr Jenni Fagan and Dr Adelle Stripe are two of the most acclaimed contemporary writers in the country, working across memoir, biography and fiction, and they fully understand the process from concept through to completion.

On this course, the real nuances and challenges involved in life-writing will be explored in a warm and welcoming space. Specifically designed for advanced writers who are thinking about a readership for their work, this course will encourage, inspire and push you to be able to engage critically with your own story, while building knowledge about the next steps to publication and beyond. Workshops will focus on ways to polish and refine your work in progress, but also offer practical advice on legal reads and submitting work to agents or editors, and consider the impact of sharing personal experience within a public domain. It is always an act of courage to share your work, your life: this is an opportunity to consider deeply your reasons for telling your story, helping to build your resolve to make the next draft the strongest it can possibly be.
